In order to bottle or can food in Ireland should I reuse jars from the shops or buy new ones. And what about the lids. Do I need to buy kilner jars? Do I use a proper canning pressure cooker? Do they sell these things in shops here? In all the food storage books I have been reading the acquisition of jars/lids has not been mentioned, am I missing something obvious?

I haven't 'canned' food, but we do preserve it by making pickles, chutneys and piccalilly. I reuse ordinary jars or kilner jars that I found in our local thrift shop.

I guess I will have to start saving them up then. Canning equipment is commonly sold at Walmart, so maybe I will import some for non-pickle foods. Thanks for your response. :D
