Oxes!
Seeing a collection of articles on the great expense of getting working horses on the homepage. It occured to me could oxen not be a better option for smallholder. Hardier,cheaper to handle and feed. Of course you would have to buy and train bullock calves yourself but given the current price of dairy bull calves (<€90 per head around here) it is relatively low risk. If it fails to they're still edible :lol:
