new pig breed!

Postby Morhogs on Mon Oct 26, 2009 3:09 pm

Our little Kune Kune gilt had 6 piglets last night and surprise surprise the daddy was our Mangalitza boar (who now resides in Co. Cork). They are red with the classic Mangalitza srtipes and some of them have the Kune Kune piri's under their chins. Not sure if this cross has been done before but they are lovely wee things.

Hello Morag, they sound lovely, I would hope to maybe get a piglet or two next year. Is there any breedt hat stay fairly small apart from the pot bellys, Fiona

Hi Fiona
The Kune Kune's are probably the best breed if you are looking for a small "pet" pig, they are great wee characters and respond well to human company. Were you thinking of a pet or freezer pig Fiona? We would know a number of breeders in Ireland so if we can help you find the right pig for you just give us a shout.
Best wishes
