Planting & Sowing in December/January

Postby sallygardens on Thu Dec 27, 2007 10:58 pm

I sowed some peas (Feltham 1st) and broad beans (aquadulce claudia) in cell trays kept in the polytunnel. They have all sprouted and are now a few inches tall. Yesterday I planted them into the polytunnel beds. It just seems alien to me to be planting things so early, I'm not used to having a polytunnel! I know the beans will be fine, they can be planted outdoors this time of year, but the peas! Can't wait to see if they work.

Today I've done a 2nd sowing of peas (Green Hurst) and beans (express) and also a tray of various sweet peas.

What are polytunnel owners planning to plant in January? Isn't it Jan we need to get aubergines on the go? I'm off to find my heated propagator ready for the aubergines.
