Hello from Westmeath

Hello all,
we live just outside Mullingar. My wife, 2 rescued mutts & a snake ! I just got into gardening this year more by accident than design(frustrated with bout of flu and vented it on small patch @ back of house!). I planted lettuce, mini iceberg lettuce, peas, cauliflower, brocholli, red onions, spring onions, carrots, parsnips & radishes. For 2009 I'm going under the cover of plastic all things being equal and hope to have my polytunnel setup for early spring in our back garden. My wife hopes to get some hens to keep her busy also. Hope you guys are all set for the long eve's of winter. Take care,
Namasté
Martin.

Hello Martin,

Welcome, I live outside Castlepollard so not too far away, any time you get the flu in the future could you get in touch my veg. patch needs some work in preparation for Spring. We keep a few chickens, ducks, dugs and pigs and great fun it is too, although the amount of rain we have had this year has made things difficult, rain + pigs = mud and lots of it. Good luck with the veggies and the polytunnel.

Best wishes
Morag

Hi Morag, I don't think I'll have time to catch the flu in '09 ! But thanks for the offer just the same . We live just up the road from O Meara's Garden Centre so not worlds apart by any means. Thanks for the well wishes and hopefully we get a reprieve from the summer rain next year. I'm sure my wife will be on here looking for hen info before too long. Take care,
Martin.

Hello and welcome

Its great to have a growing community and also lovely that others (thanks Morag) are starting to welcome newcomers other than myself.

You'll find some tips on where to buy poultry in the Poultry section here on the forum.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on with the polytunnel
